Paramedic
About the role
The Paramedic provides advanced life support in pre-hospital and inter-hospital emergency settings under the direction of a Medical Command Physician. They are accountable for assessing and administering medications to pre-hospital patients according to protocols. Depending on department needs, they may work in various specialties such as ALS, MICU, BLS, and SCT. The Paramedic ensures the emergency vehicle, equipment, and inventory are ready at the start of each shift. They adhere to organizational, regulatory, and departmental policies and procedures, as well as AtlantiCare's vision and values. They complete required education and training to maintain their licensure and competency.
Responsibilities
- Assess and administer advanced life support to pre-hospital patients
- Ensure emergency vehicle, equipment, and inventory are ready at the start of each shift
- Work in various specialties including ALS, MICU, BLS, and SCT
- Adhere to organizational, regulatory, and departmental policies and procedures
- Maintain current ARMC Medical Command status
- Complete required education and training to maintain licensure and competency
- Support organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and mentoring new team members
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of NREMT School of paramedic training
- Certified as a Paramedic by the State of New Jersey
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, or PEPP certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Completed National Incident Command Courses; ICS 100 and IS 700
- Maintain current ARMC Medical Command status
- 1-2 years ALS paramedic work experience may be required if applying for reciprocity
Skills
Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained appropriately and then competency will be required within 30-60 days from date of hire.
