Paralegal - Outreach Coordinator

About the role

Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. (FRLS) is seeking to hire an Outreach Coordinator to support community engagement and education efforts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, and legal clinics.
• Prepare an annual plan for outreach activities.
• Establish and nurture relationships with collaborative partners.
• Schedule regular outreach opportunities in the community to disseminate information about FRLS services.
• Prepare accurate records and reports on outreach goals.
• Contact community organizations serving low-income communities and FRLS’s target populations, explaining the mission and services.
• Meet regularly with outreach project partners to give updates and plan future outreach.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Paralegal degree or certification preferred.
• Knowledge of the legal system, commitment to FRLS's mission, and compassion for clients.
• Fluency in English, Spanish, or Haitian Creole is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to forge positive relationships with clients, community, and colleagues.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Case Management System.
• Ability to work collaboratively, yet independently.
• Creativity and ability to maximize the use of existing resources.
• Three to four years of professional experience conducting and developing community outreach preferred.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Salary

The starting salary for this position is $38,500, based on a union scale and adjusted upward depending on experience.

Physical Requirements

This is a largely sedentary role, but some lifting of office supplies up to 20 pounds may be required. Must be able to travel throughout Florida, as needed.
