Responsibilities
- Draft motions, notices, declarations, and other pleadings in bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings and related state court litigation, where applicable.
- Prepare and compile fee applications and supporting documentation.
- Conduct claims analysis, review proofs of claim, and assist with objection strategies.
- Support debtor, creditor, trustee, and receiver representations.
- Affiliate with Chapter 11 case administration, and exposure to U.S. Trustee reporting requirements, where applicable.
- Monitor docket activity and manage deadlines across multiple federal bankruptcy courts.
- Prepare and electronically file documents through CM/ECF in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts.
- Cook service, noticing, and compliance with local bankruptcy rules.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and local rules in: Southern and Central Districts of California, All Arizona Bankruptcy Districts, All Nevada Bankruptcy Districts.
- Support contested matters, including adversary proceedings and avoidance actions.
- Interface with all levels within the firm and externally with clients and other professional advisors.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff across offices and jurisdictions, managing competing priorities in a pooled support structure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal degree from an ABA-approved program with 5+ years of bankruptcy experience, including exposure to debtor, creditor, and fiduciary representations.
- Experience drafting motions, fee applications, and related bankruptcy pleadings, and experience with claims analysis and review.
- Demonstrated experience e-filing in federal courts (CM/ECF required).
- Strong understanding of Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and applicable local rules.
- Ability to manage multiple matters across jurisdictions and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Litigation background, including experience in adversary proceedings.
- Experience supporting trustees and court-appointed receivers.
- Multi-state federal court experience, particularly in CA, AZ, and NV.
- Experience with billing platforms and time entry in a law firm environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe/Power PDF tools.
