Location: Remote, California, Occasional travel to court and office as needed Summary The Paralegal will support attorneys in all aspects of legal work, including research, drafting documents, and managing case files. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient handling of legal matters and providing high-quality support to clients and the legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong research and organizational skills, a solid understanding of legal procedures, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Key Responsibilities Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research and gather relevant case information, statutes, and precedents to assist with case preparation and strategy. Document Preparation: Draft, dictate, review, and prepare legal documents including pleadings, settlements, briefs, motions, and correspondence for assigned attorneys. Ensure all documents are accurate and comply with legal standards. Case Management: Organize and maintain case files, including tracking deadlines, scheduling appointments, assessing settlement potential, and managing discovery processes. Collaborate with other members of the Firm support clients effectively. Fulfill minimum billable hours each month. Client Interaction: Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide updates on case progress. Alleviate attorney interactions by providing timely updates to clients. Filing: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other agencies. Ensure timely and accurate submission of filings. Court Support: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions, including organizing exhibits and preparing witness outlines. Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties such as managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and handling correspondence. Compliance: Ensure that all work adheres to legal and ethical standards, including maintaining confidentiality and managing sensitive information. Qualifications Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Bachelor's degree or completion of a paralegal certification program is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm or legal department. Strong research and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research Ability to draft and review legal documents with accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and documentation. Knowledge of legal research methods and case management software is advantageous. Requirements Must have a keen eye for detail and be able to review and manage complex documents and case files accurately. Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality at all times. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and other staff members. Ability to anticipate issues and proactively address challenges that may arise during case preparation and management. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workload demands in a fast-paced legal environment. FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt Location: Remote, California, Occasional travel to court and office as needed Compensation: Opportunity for discretionary bonuses.
