Cole, Scott & Kissane, an AV-rated litigation firm, is seeking a full-time, experienced Paralegal for its Jacksonville office. This is an on-site opportunity — not remote.
About the role
The prospective candidate will support one of our Insurance Defense Divisions. This is a hands-on position that involves working collaboratively with clients, opposing counsel, legal professionals, and fellow employees of the firm. The role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to perform well within a team environment.
Responsibilities

- Medical Chronologies
- Case Management
- Support the legal team by requesting, analyzing, and capturing records for clients, attorneys, and experts
- Draft discovery responses
- Conduct case research via the Internet or through local libraries
- Organize and prepare both outline and narrative summaries of records for internal use and client presentation
- Analyze billing material to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of evidence
- Prepare case analysis, identify issues, omissions, and discrepancies
- Identify and provide information regarding trial experts and coordinate expert deposition preparation
- Assist attorneys with evidence preparation and organization for hearings or trials
- Compose and type document production, including case analysis memoranda, summaries, chronologies, correspondence, and reports
- Compile data for exhibits
- Conduct preliminary legal research as necessary
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Prior civil litigation experience
- Familiarity with court procedures
- Extensive experience with researching, scheduling, drafting legal documents, follow-up, and filing pleadings in state and federal courts
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented, able to work well under pressure, and maintain a positive, pleasant disposition
- Demonstrated stable job tenure of two or more years in each position with a good attendance record
- Paralegal certification or degree preferred
- Experience working in civil litigation
- Self-starter comfortable communicating between various groups and organizing documents
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro
- Experience in civil litigation with a history of capturing billable time
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification preferred
