Trust and Estate Paralegal

This role sits in the Global Law Firm's Princeton, NJ office and is hybrid, working 3 days in and 2 days from home.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, beneficiaries, executors, and trustees, fostering attentive and responsive communication throughout each matter.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing and revising estate administration and estate planning documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness before filing or execution.
  • Collect, review, and maintain financial materials such as tax returns, trust records, deeds, account statements, and related supporting documentation.
  • Support the valuation of estate holdings by organizing asset information and coordinating with relevant financial professionals when needed.
  • Prepare administration packets and related documents for fiduciaries, including materials required for estate and trust management.
  • Manage required notices, publication steps, and other procedural filings associated with probate and estate administration matters.
  • Draft and assemble post-death estate planning materials, including disclaimer documentation and other transfer-related paperwork.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for estate, inheritance, gift, and fiduciary tax filings, audits, accountings, distributions, and asset transfers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of paralegal experience, with a strong background in estate planning, probate, or trust and estate administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize large volumes of legal and financial information with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, and external professionals.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently while also contributing collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Excel and confidence performing financial calculations and reviewing banking, brokerage, and similar account records.
  • Working knowledge of the Uniform Probate Code and core estate planning and administration requirements.
  • Experience preparing or supporting fiduciary income tax returns, estate tax returns, inheritance tax returns, or gift tax filings.
  • Ability to meet a billable annual target of 1,550 hours.
