Paralegal

Kennedys, a global law firm with offices throughout the US, seeks a full-time Paralegal with 5+ years of solid insurance litigation experience related to NY law to join our team in our New York City Office. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious paralegal to join a growing, global law firm.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and summarize medical records and add relevant dates/information to the medical chronology
• Prepare answers to Discovery with client contact
• Draft discovery motions (Motions to Extend Discovery, Motion to Compel Discovery, and Motion to Dismiss Complaint for Plaintiff's Failure to Provide Discovery)
• Review Plaintiff's Answers to Interrogatories
• Schedule and coordinate IME's for plaintiff
• Conduct research using Westlaw and other online sources
• Assist in retention of experts and manage interactions with outside vendors
• Prepare HIPAA Authorization Forms for Plaintiff's execution and return
• Retrieve medical records from providers and third-party vendors
• Follow up with providers to ensure receipt of records from HIPAA requests
• Perform Jury Verdict Searches using Westlaw
• Prepare appeals, motions, and privilege logs
• Produce documents
• Shepardizing (bluebooking) cases
• Draft and enter time entries

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in Insurance Defense Litigation
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Thorough working knowledge of and experience with the Federal and New York court system
• Experience with Westlaw
• Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-accredited program preferred or relevant years of experience

Pay

The annualized salary range for this role is $75,000–$90,000, contingent upon level of experience, practice group, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
