About the role
The Paralegal will support the functioning of the legal department by providing legal, regulatory, and administrative support across a broad range of matters, while protecting the company’s assets and minimizing risk and liability. This role involves stewarding litigation, drafting routine filings, managing the contract management system, and supporting continuous improvement of legal operations and record retention practices.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key legal department resource supporting contracting, litigation management, regulatory compliance, and other legal functions as assigned.
- Assist Manager, Paralegal & Litigation with management of litigation, pre-litigation, investigations, subpoenas, and related legal proceedings.
- Maintain and organize litigation files, pleadings, discovery materials, legal holds, and other legal documents.
- Track and monitor litigation, regulatory, and contractual deadlines to ensure timely action and compliance.
- Draft, review, analyze, negotiate, process, and amend both basic and specialized form agreements, including selecting the proper form of contract.
- Review and assist business clients with preparation of the scope of work and related contract documents, circulating drafts for review, finalizing contract documents, obtaining execution signatures, and preparing appropriate correspondence and follow-up.
- Manage the contract intake process, administer the contract management system and repository, and liaise with business stakeholders regarding executed agreements and upcoming expirations. Prepare contract abstracts as needed.
- Assist with legal research as required.
- Additional temporary or permanent duties may be assigned as necessary.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age.
- 2-year Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in contract administration or litigation management for a large-scale, complex organization.
- Proven ability to communicate professionally with all business levels via phone, written communication, and in-person.
- Ability to work independently, identify and communicate creative solutions to challenges, maintain focus on business priorities, and follow through persistently.
- Ability to orchestrate and execute multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment using resources effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to quickly and comfortably follow complex workflow processes and navigate various electronic systems.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and communicate verbally in English; written communication skills in English may also be required.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers to handle or utilize objects, tools, or controls.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and peripheral vision.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- May be exposed to an environment containing unrestricted secondhand tobacco smoke.
Pay
$80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year.
