About the role

The Office of General Counsel at Duane Morris LLP seeks a Paralegal to support the firm's General Counsel, Assistant General Counsels, and Compliance Counsel. The ideal candidate will assist in developing and implementing efficient workflow procedures and provide operational coordination and assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Aid and support the firm-wide Compliance Program to minimize and manage risk.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of ethical screens via Intapp Walls.
  • Perform first-level review of Outside Counsel Guidelines on behalf of the Compliance team in Intapp Terms, according to predetermined standards; collaborate with the Office of General Counsel on items requiring supplemental review.
  • Assist with first-level review of certain conflicts searches.
  • Maintain oversight of emails directed to Compliance Counsel group and route inquiries to the appropriate Office of General Counsel or New Business Intake team member.
  • Assist in locating form waivers or prior draft waivers at the request of Conflicts and Business Intake Compliance Counsel.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread cover letters, administrative memos, and other documents.
  • Manage updates, corrections, and annual refreshes of Firm policies.
  • Index and summarize documents and files; assist in maintaining Office of General Counsel/Compliance document and policy libraries.
  • Schedule meetings and trainings.

Experience, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, including the ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively in person, by email, and by phone with a diverse group of lawyers and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a cooperative manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and analyze large volumes of qualitative and numerical data in spreadsheets with sustained attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform basic factual research and factual analysis.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding office data and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
  • Knowledge of law firm compliance functions.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
