About the role
We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Legal team and report directly to the General Counsel. In this role you will support the department’s litigation and regulatory initiatives by coordinating responses to legal processes, overseeing legal policies and procedures, and providing ad-hoc assistance to the team. As a key member of the Legal Department, you will help ensure that our legal operations remain agile, compliant, and strategically focused.
Responsibilities
- Receive and oversee response to all legal process received by the Bank.
- Assist with tracking and reporting on regulatory developments.
- Prepare litigation reports and track outside counsel’s role in external litigation and legal process matters.
- Manage Legal Department Policies and Procedures.
- Manage review and payment of outside counsel invoices and other Legal Department expenses.
- Manage process for maintaining and updating bank standard forms.
- Oversee the Bank’s whistleblower reporting process.
- Provide support in the preparation and monitoring of the Legal Department’s annual operating budget.
- Serve as secretary for certain Legal Department lead committees.
- Provide support (as needed) with organization and management of loan transaction documents.
- Perform all other duties as may be requested from time to time by the General Counsel.
Requirements
- General familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations for financial institutions.
- Experience with handling responses to all legal process (e.g. civil subpoenas, grand jury subpoenas; levies, restraining notices).
- Must have strong working knowledge Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), document database tools (e.g. Relativity), court docket tools (e.g. Pacer) and legal research tools.
- Five to seven years’ experience as a paralegal in financial services or litigation.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
