Position Summary
Provides individual behavior intervention and medical support to students in a classroom settings, assists individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning. Assists teachers with instruction and classroom management that occurs in special education and general education classrooms, lunchroom and play field environs.
Responsibilities
- Supports students with behavior intervention plans
- Assists with classroom management and instruction
- Provides medical support as needed
- Works in both special education and general education settings
- Assists with lunchroom and play field activities
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Completion of at least 48 college credit units may substitute for the competency assessment
- Valid driver's license (may be required)
- Compliance with District skill/competency requirements
Qualifications
- Knowledge of reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to provide medical support as needed
- Experience working in both special education and general education settings
- Ability to assist with classroom management and instruction
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies
- Basic first aid and CPR certification

Pay
$21.24 - $28.08 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on relevant experience.
