Position Summary
Provides individual behavior intervention and medical support to students in a classroom settings, assists individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning. Assists teachers with instruction and classroom management that occurs in special education and general education classrooms, lunchroom and play field environs.
Responsibilities
- Supports students with behavior intervention and medical needs
- Aids in enhancing learning through individual and group instruction
- Assists teachers with classroom management in various environments
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Completion of at least 48 college credit units may substitute for the competency assessment
- Valid driver's license (may be required)
- Compliance with District skill/competency requirements
Qualifications
- Knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to provide behavior intervention and medical support
- Experience working with students in a variety of educational settings
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of special education and general education teaching methods
