Overview

The Marketing Strategy & Operations team at Whatnot is responsible for the operational layer behind the company's paid creative engine. This includes workflows, reporting, tooling, automation, and vendor infrastructure that enables the production and shipment of performant paid creative at scale across multiple markets.

Responsibilities

  • Define creative performance frameworks and reporting, including metrics that guide creative investment and what to make more of, stop making, or test next.

  • Audit existing creative ops infrastructure, build what’s missing, and fix what’s slowing the team down.

  • Own the production workflow, from brief to live placement, including localization across markets and brand-fit auditing at volume.

  • Own the creative ops stack, including Airtable / Sigma / Snowflake platforms, tagging automation, reporting pipelines, and final dashboards.

  • Identify what can be automated and ship it, partnering with Data and Engineering where needed.

  • Drive cross-functional operating rhythms, aligning the team and escalating issues as necessary.

  • Lead cross-functional operational initiatives end-to-end, from problem scoping to execution and reporting.

  • Solve net-new problems as paid scales globally, such as localization, brand drift, and creative velocity.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience across consulting, creative operations, or strategy and operations at a high-growth consumer company.

  • Direct paid creative ops experience is a plus, but operational and analytical judgment matter more than channel-specific reps.

  • A track record of building or rebuilding a system that scaled, including tagging taxonomies, asset workflows, creative testing frameworks, automation pipelines, or reporting systems.

  • Strong analytical judgment, comfortable working with performance data directly, and understanding of paid marketing metrics like CAC, ROAS, LTV, PBP, incrementality, and creative fatigue.

  • Strong project management instincts, running complex cross-functional initiatives across technical and business teams.

  • Clear written communication, turning messy realities into actionable recommendations.

  • Operational instincts at scale, working inside teams where spend, creative volume, or market complexity grew quickly.

  • Bias toward speed and iteration, knowing when a scrappy system is good enough to ship and when something needs more rigor.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, questioning existing approaches, and building replacements.

  • Experience owning a budget or vendor relationship end-to-end.

  • Use of Whatnot as a buyer or seller.

Benefits

  • Generous holiday and time off policy.

  • Health insurance options including medical, dental, vision.

  • Work from home support, home office setup allowance.

  • Monthly allowance for cell phone and internet.

  • Care benefits, including wellness allowance and childcare allowance.

  • Retirement matching and pension plans.

  • Monthly allowance to dogfood the app.

  • Parental leave, including 16 weeks of paid parental leave and one month gradual return to work.
