Responsibilities
The Packer is responsible for packing finished high-quality frozen egg products in cases according to customer specifications. This includes filling and folding omelets, preparing them for freezing, and monitoring and removing defective products. Packers ensure compliance with safety work rules, food safety, and quality policies to deliver safe, high-quality products to customers.
- Participate in general housekeeping and sanitation of the area.
- Sort, count, and pack frozen egg products according to customer specifications while keeping pace with machinery and the conveyor system.
- Conduct quality checks on the product and packaging using a computerized system.
- Fold and inspect required products.
- Read scales and check case weights according to customer specifications.
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs. safely.
- Work in teams to ensure the conveyor system does not back up or become jammed.
- Rotate to different positions during the shift.
- Determine if product meets proper specifications and take corrective action as needed.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, and maintain sanitary conditions.
- Inspect products for proper size, shape, and color; sort out any damaged or non-conforming products.
- Report conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
- Assume personal responsibility for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
No prior experience or education is required.
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words in English and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
- Ability to perform operations using units of American weight measurement.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
Schedule
This position works a 12-hour day shift from 6 PM - 6 AM on a 2-2-3 rotation ("C" shift).
- Week 1: Work Monday - Tuesday, off Wednesday - Thursday, work Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
- Week 2: Off Monday - Tuesday, work Wednesday - Thursday, off Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Every other weekend is a 3-day weekend scheduled off work.
