Overnight Fleet Maintenance Supervisor- Bronx

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of technicians and welders to maintain the fleet in peak operating condition, collaborating with the Fleet Maintenance Manager. This role provides direction to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner, while managing preventative maintenance, repairs, and administrative duties such as parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking, and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to A, B, C level, and lead technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair and maintenance work.
• Report to management on performance and recommend process or programmatic improvements.
• Supervise technicians in the maintenance shop, including conducting daily shop huddles, yard checks, coaching, counseling, and training on performance or corrective action.
• Make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions in collaboration with Human Resources and management.
• Conduct employee training, performance evaluations, and recommend merit increases or job changes.
• Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and federal/state regulations.
• Identify training opportunities and document issues, discussing corrective actions with technicians as needed.
• Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues, and ensure resolution in accordance with safety and compliance procedures.
• Oversee complex repair diagnostics, provide coaching, and road test vehicles to determine necessary repairs.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems for preventive and repair maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Repair heating and air conditioning systems in vehicles.
• Use welding tools to repair heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Manage administrative matters, including payroll, employee records, and maintenance logs in TMT Maintenance Software.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a supervisor, foreman, or team lead.
• Experience with electrical systems, air brakes, medium and heavy-duty diesel engines, and computer-aided diagnostics (e.g., CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Premium Tech Tool).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
• Advanced experience with fleet management and onboard computing software.
• Strong knowledge of DOT CMV rules, OSHA, and other federal and local regulations.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Pay

Salary range: USD $70,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year. This role is bonus-eligible as part of the compensation package.
