About the Role

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of technicians and welders to maintain the fleet and equipment in peak operating condition, collaborating with the Fleet Maintenance Manager. This role provides direction to technicians, welders, and administrative personnel to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. The Maintenance Supervisor oversees preventative maintenance, repairs, parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking, and cost control. They also utilize fleet management and onboard computing software to monitor vehicle performance and costs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to A, B, C level, and lead technicians to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Report to management on performance and recommend process or programmatic improvements for efficiency.
  • Supervise technicians in the maintenance shop, including conducting daily shop huddles, yard checks, coaching, counseling, and training on performance or corrective action.
  • Make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions in collaboration with Human Resources and management.
  • Conduct employee training and performance evaluations, and recommend merit increases or job changes.
  • Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and federal/state regulations.
  • Identify training opportunities and document issues, discussing corrective actions with technicians as needed.
  • Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues, and ensure resolution in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee diagnostics for complex repairs, provide coaching, and road test vehicles to determine necessary repairs.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems for preventive and repair maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair complex heating and air conditioning systems in vehicles.
  • Use welding tools to repair heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including payroll, employee records, and documentation of preventive and corrective maintenance in TMT Maintenance Software.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a supervisor, foreman, or team lead.
  • Experience with electrical systems, air brakes, medium and heavy-duty diesel engines, and computer-aided diagnostics (e.g., CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Premium Tech Tool).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
  • Advanced experience with fleet management and onboard computing software.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT CMV rules, OSHA, and other federal and local regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Pay

Salary Range Minimum: USD $75,000.00/year. Salary Range Maximum: USD $95,000.00/year. The base pay offered takes into account factors such as internal equity, geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and business needs.
