Outreach Music Specialist

About the role

The San Diego Children's Choir's School Outreach Program seeks an Outreach Music Specialist to teach music classes to children in San Diego County schools.

Responsibilities

• Teach between fifteen to thirty children ranging from preschool to third grade once weekly for thirty to forty-five minutes.
• Offer a class Informance at the end of a semester, at the discretion of the Outreach Music Teacher.
• Teach songs that instill the joy of singing while incorporating the elements of music, solfa, rhythmic development, head voice, and concert etiquette.
• Select and communicate with parents and schools about repertoire and performance planning.
• Work with a Multi-Subject California Credentialed Classroom Teacher to support behavior management during the school day.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in music education or equivalent.
• Experience teaching General Music and/or Choral Music to Elementary School students, or comparable experience.
• Preferred additional music education endorsements such as Kodály, Orff-Schulwerk, GIML, Feieraband, or Dalcroze.
• Spanish-speaking ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• California Single-Subject Music Teacher Credential is not required for this position.
