About the role
This position involves fabricating a variety of orthotic and prosthetic devices under the guidance of clinicians. Tasks include adjusting and repairing devices, using hand tools like band saws, drill presses, and heat guns, and fitting prefabricated orthoses and prostheses.
Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and prosthetic devices
- Order and receive orthotic fabrication materials
- Fit and deliver prefabricated orthoses such as cervical orthoses, pressure gradient hose, and trusses
- Provide education to patients on product application, use, and care
- Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials and maintain inventory
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- A valid driver’s license and compliant driving record
- Technical training school or 2 years of relevant experience preferred
Qualifications
- Knowledge and hand skills to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses
- Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination for safe tool use
- Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Teamwork and integrity in all interactions
Skills
- Experience with hand tools including band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools
