About the role
This position involves fabricating a variety of orthotic and prosthetic devices under the guidance of clinicians. Tasks include adjusting, repairing, and fitting these devices, often in a workshop setting. The role requires proficiency with hand tools such as band saws, drill presses, and vacuum systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and prosthetic devices
- Order and receive orthotic fabrication materials
- Fit and deliver prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses
- Provide education to patients on product use and care
- Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials and maintain inventory
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s standards
- Technical training school or 2 years of relevant experience preferred
Qualifications
- Knowledge and hand skills to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses
- Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to operate laboratory tools safely
- Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Teamwork and integrity in all interactions
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools
- Familiarity with band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools
