About the role

This position involves fabricating a variety of orthotic and prosthetic devices under the guidance of clinicians. Tasks include adjusting, repairing, and fitting these devices, often in a workshop setting. The role requires proficiency with hand tools such as band saws, drill presses, and vacuum systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and prosthetic devices
  • Order and receive orthotic fabrication materials
  • Fit and deliver prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses
  • Provide education to patients on product use and care
  • Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials and maintain inventory

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s standards
  • Technical training school or 2 years of relevant experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and hand skills to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses
  • Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to operate laboratory tools safely
  • Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork and integrity in all interactions

Skills

  • Proficiency with hand tools
  • Familiarity with band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools
