About the role

This position involves fabricating and repairing orthotic and prosthetic devices under the guidance of clinicians. Tasks include adjusting and repairing devices, using hand tools like band saws, drill presses, and heat guns, and fitting prefabricated orthoses and prostheses. The role requires mechanical skills, organizational abilities, and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and prosthetic devices
  • Order and receive orthotic fabrication materials
  • Fit and deliver prefabricated orthoses such as cervical orthoses, pressure gradient hoses, and trusses
  • Provide education on product application, use, and care
  • Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials and manage inventory

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid driver’s license and compliant driving record
  • Technical training school or 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Knowledge and hand skills to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses
  • Ability to use laboratory tools safely and effectively
  • Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork and integrity in all interactions

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Technical training or 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with hand tools and orthotic/prosthetic fabrication
