Ortho Operating Room Supervisor RN

Serving Central Iowa since 2001, the Orthopaedic Outpatient Surgery Center (OOSC) is a joint venture of Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons and UnityPoint Health Des Moines. As a premier orthopaedic surgery center, OOSC is fully equipped with five operating rooms serving over 400 patients per month, providing the highest standard of surgical care in a professional, compassionate, and considerate manner.

About the role

The OOSC is seeking a full-time Operating Room Supervisor. This Monday through Friday position offers a great work-life balance with no weekends, holidays, or on-call coverage. Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and support an environment that fosters teamwork, empowers staff, and promotes professional, positive physician and patient relations throughout the center.
• Oversee the daily surgery schedule; manage and communicate daily changes across all areas in a timely manner.
• Review the surgery schedule for the following day and establish case order based on physician preference, patient needs/requests, and instruments/equipment availability.
• Coordinate with Control staff to verify patient pre-admission requirements are completed prior to the day of surgery and assist with Anesthesia chart reviews/patient approvals.
• Monitor scheduling sheets for surgeon special requests and/or patient needs.
• Monitor healthcare providers to ensure performance is within delineation of privileges and communicate any issues to the Surgical Services Clinical Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure organizational efficiency and outstanding patient care.

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted RN license to practice in the state of Iowa as a Registered Nurse.
• Active BLS and ACLS Certification.
• Two years of prior experience working in orthopaedics or an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility of hours based on scheduled cases.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to handle busy environments and adapt to change.
