OR Supervisor / Charge Nurse

About the role

The OR Supervisor / Charge Nurse at Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating unit activities for the provision of quality patient care while adhering to state and federal regulations, the company's policies and protocols, and the recognized standard of care.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison with doctors and administrators and communicate any protocol changes to staff
• Mentor and train new staff and provide support and guidance to staff members
• Coordinate daily administrative duties, including schedules, nursing assignments and patient care
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
• Record and maintain accurate reports
• Identify issues or emergencies and respond in an efficient manner
• Accurately record patient's condition, nursing actions and physician directions in EMR, and maintain accurate and concise medical records
• Verify dates on all drugs
• Conduct narcotics count each day
• Monitor equipment for maintenance and repairs
• Provide support for AAAASF
• Delegate activities as needed to meet the needs of the facility

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of clinical experience working as an OR Supervisor or Charge Nurse, preferably in an ASC
• Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program
• Experience working with an EMR system
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent communication skills – fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Current state nursing license (RN)
