Ophthalmologist - Locum Tenens Coverage

About the Role

This position is for an ophthalmologist providing inpatient and outpatient care in a facility with 24-hour coverage. The clinician will evaluate hospital and ED consults, perform surgical procedures such as globe and eyelid repairs, and remove corneal foreign bodies.

Responsibilities

• Manage an average of 5-8 patients daily across all ages
• Remain within 20 minutes of the medical center during on-call shifts
• Adhere to established protocols
• Provide comprehensive ophthalmologic evaluations and treatments
• Perform trauma-related surgeries and procedures
• Respond promptly to ED and hospital consultations
• Maintain readiness within a 20-minute radius of the facility

Requirements

• Board certification in ophthalmology
• Experience with trauma-related eye care and emergency procedures
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR preferred
• Ability to handle inpatient and outpatient cases efficiently
• Strong communication and decision-making skills
