About the role
The Operation Support Specialist II supports the scheduling skill set for diagnostic imaging. Key responsibilities include processing and managing orders, directing patients for appointments, and assisting with various support operations.
Responsibilities
- Process orders for DI exams, coordinate, and schedule patient exams.
- Follow correct scheduling procedures such as prep instructions, check-in times, and process for procedures.
- Provide direction and assistance for patient appointments in Diagnostic Imaging for both patients and providers.
- Communicate with radiologists, technologists, and departments to improve exam efficiency and patient experience.
- Check two patient identifiers, load information into the EMR system to activate orders for exams, process request and paper filing through system, check faxes, distribute mail, update patient information, and process daily pulls for schedules.
- Process requests and orders through RightFax and schedule patient exams.
- Answer phone according to departmental and organizational standards and respond to requests with prompt follow-up.
- Cookpilot patient transport to multiple modalities by continually observing work lists and patient orders.
- Keep filing areas and drawers neat and organized for all users.
- Assist in the processes of maintaining archives within the hospital as well as its off-site storage and outside affiliates.
- Aid in patient records processes including ID verification and consent.
- Process all requests including patient imaging media and orders according to policy/procedure.
- Facilitate customer service by routing jackets, inserts, and reports to appropriate departments, outside facilities, and doctors’ offices.
- Process CD's and VPN pushes in a timely manner.
- Assist patient as needed with transport or intervene when transport is necessary, monitor high-risk patients prior to and during exams as needed.
- Look for ways to improve customer service with patients as well as doctors’ offices.
- Facilitate decision-making and budget responsibilities with limited impact.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Outlook.
- Previous hospital experience, including medical terminology and patient registration.
- BLS certification within 90 days.
- Lifting mechanics training within 30 days.
- Simplicity training within 90 days.
