Responsibilities
- Manage international and domestic shipments across air, ocean, and ground modes from booking through final delivery
- Cook up routing, carrier selection, and scheduling to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery
- Oversee documentation including bills of lading, customs paperwork, invoices, and shipping instructions
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring a high level of service and responsiveness
- Proactively communicate shipment status, resolve delays, and manage exceptions
- Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to expand service offerings
- Negotiate rates and capacity with carriers, airlines, trucking providers, and other logistics partners
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to support service reliability and cost optimization
- Monitor carrier performance and enforce service-level agreements
- Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies
- Support audits, documentation accuracy, and risk mitigation related to import/export activity
- Stay current on evolving logistics regulations and best practices
- Analyze shipment data, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities
- Troubleshoot service failures, resolve escalations, and implement corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with AIT’s high-performance culture
- Partner cross-functionally with pricing, sales, customs brokerage, warehousing, and finance teams
- Contribute to process improvements, SOP development, and operational training
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of work experience in relevant field (required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation operations (required)
- 2+ years work experience with import/export documentation and customs compliance (preferred)
- Strong understanding of multimodal transportation (air, ocean, ground) and global shipping processes
- Moderate proficiency with logistics systems, ERP/TMS platforms, and Microsoft Office
- Experience in a global 3PL or freight forwarding environment
- Knowledge of specialized verticals (e.g., life sciences, high-tech, automotive)
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment
- Customer-centric mindset and strong relationship management skills
- IATA certification (preferred)
- FIATA certification (preferred)
- APICS certification (preferred)
