Responsibilities

  • Manage international and domestic shipments across air, ocean, and ground modes from booking through final delivery
  • Cook up routing, carrier selection, and scheduling to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery
  • Oversee documentation including bills of lading, customs paperwork, invoices, and shipping instructions
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring a high level of service and responsiveness
  • Proactively communicate shipment status, resolve delays, and manage exceptions
  • Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to expand service offerings
  • Negotiate rates and capacity with carriers, airlines, trucking providers, and other logistics partners
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships to support service reliability and cost optimization
  • Monitor carrier performance and enforce service-level agreements
  • Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies
  • Support audits, documentation accuracy, and risk mitigation related to import/export activity
  • Stay current on evolving logistics regulations and best practices
  • Analyze shipment data, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities
  • Troubleshoot service failures, resolve escalations, and implement corrective actions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with AIT’s high-performance culture
  • Partner cross-functionally with pricing, sales, customs brokerage, warehousing, and finance teams
  • Contribute to process improvements, SOP development, and operational training

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of work experience in relevant field (required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation operations (required)
  • 2+ years work experience with import/export documentation and customs compliance (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of multimodal transportation (air, ocean, ground) and global shipping processes
  • Moderate proficiency with logistics systems, ERP/TMS platforms, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience in a global 3PL or freight forwarding environment
  • Knowledge of specialized verticals (e.g., life sciences, high-tech, automotive)
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer-centric mindset and strong relationship management skills
  • IATA certification (preferred)
  • FIATA certification (preferred)
  • APICS certification (preferred)
