About the role

The Operations Manager at Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) plays a pivotal role in driving the company's mission to keep communities clean and safe. You'll lead a team, optimize operations, and deliver essential services that make a visible impact every day.

Responsibilities

  • Guide your team with clarity, confidence, and a motivating presence.
  • Build trust through open communication, approachability, and accountability.
  • Promote a culture that is safe, inclusive, and performance-driven.
  • Execute branch-level strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Plan and schedule work weekly or monthly using routing tools to meet customer demand efficiently.
  • Manage the branch’s profit and loss, making data-driven decisions to drive profitability.
  • Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, labor costs, maintenance, and safety.
  • Partner with sales to identify and pursue growth opportunities.
  • Support customer retention and account growth through exceptional service.
  • Set clear goals and metrics, ensuring strong follow-through and accountability for results.
  • Manage staffing levels in alignment with business needs.
  • Oversee daily and weekly scheduling of work crews and ensure optimal route execution.
  • Track hours, manage pay approvals, and oversee payroll submission.
  • Coach employees on performance, administer discipline when necessary, and foster strong employee relations.
  • Use data and reporting tools to drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and growth.
  • Operate with the mindset of a business owner, solving problems independently, managing resources wisely, and planning for long-term success.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with employees, customers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Serve as the face of your branch in the community and with clients.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Sales, Maintenance, and other departments to align operations, support initiatives, and ensure service delivery.
  • Promote and represent the SCA brand with pride, helping to communicate the value of our services and maintain a high standard of professionalism.
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance, being present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, and reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.
  • Supervise workers, including assigning work, monitoring performance, providing training and guidance, conducting performance evaluations, approving timecards, and participating in hiring, corrective action, and employment decisions as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year operations experience – waste management or driver operations a plus; jet vac experience highly preferred.
  • No experience managing teams required – 1 year preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent – bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Available to respond to staffing or operational needs outside standard work hours.

Physical requirements & travel

  • Lifting: Up to 25 lbs.
  • Sitting/Standing: Primarily desk-based with moderate standing or walking.
  • Dexterity: Ability to use computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
  • Visual & Auditory: Normal or corrected vision and hearing sufficient for office work.
