Operations Assistance Coordinator, TRQ - 26035
Position Summary
The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) is responsible for the recruitment of diverse and talented teachers to meet the staffing needs of New York Public Schools (NYCPS) and programs, as well as promoting the equitable and quality distribution of teachers across all schools. TRQ accomplishes its work through a strategic, data-driven approach focusing on recruitment, preparation, and support for teacher candidates.

Responsibilities
- Application Review & Support:
- Review and assess applications for various teacher pathway programs, ensuring completeness and alignment with program criteria.
- Provide customer services to applicants regarding missing materials, next steps, and timelines.
- Collaborate with program teams to flag and escalate applications requiring further review.
- Customer Service & Troubleshooting:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries related to teacher pathways, providing timely and accurate information.
- Troubleshoot issues related to applications, platform access, or general program questions.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism and empathy in all communications, ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders.
- Cross Team Collaboration:
- Compile and share insights and trends to help track application review progress and inform priorities.
- Add capacity to other projects during recruiting peak season.
- Support joint planning for recruitment season and contribute to insights and best practices.
Qualification Requirements
- Minimum:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above;
- or High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above;
- or Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.
- Plus:
- Two additional years of the experience described in "1" above.
Preferred
- Excellent customer service orientation with strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and work through others to achieve shared goals.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments, particularly within education or government sectors.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, storytelling, and interpersonal abilities.
- Advanced analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, including the ability to ask insightful questions and provide constructive feedback.
- Project management experience, including goal-setting, planning, implementation, and progress tracking.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and advanced spreadsheet functions (Excel, Google Sheets).
- Technical proficiency and the ability to troubleshoot systems and tools effectively.
Salary
$72,114 - $79,325
(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
