Basic Qualifications
- STEM bachelor's degree or related field with a strong understanding of physics fundamentals
- Strong MATLAB skills
- Experience on detailed technical assignments often requiring learning or developing advanced math models and algorithms
- US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, with ability to receive and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
Job Description
This analyst in the Operations Analysis Group (aka “Possum Works”) will join a dynamic team environment with a unique culture supporting a myriad of Program and Independent Research and Development (IRAD) tasks. The chemistry of the team is critical to our success. The candidate is expected to be highly motivated to solve strike and missile defense problems at the conceptual level. The candidate will be expected to interface with senior analysts and program leadership.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting propulsion modeling for friendly and adversary boosters, trajectory generation, code development, conducting analysis runs, and maintenance of post processors for the Missile Defense Toolkit simulation suite. Most importantly, the candidate will be expected to interpret results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on the data they have collected. This person will develop an understanding of Strike and Missile Defense system simulations and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Applying knowledge of the physical principles of solid and liquid rocket boosters to model friendly and adversary missiles
- Developing a working knowledge of Missile Defense system functions, scientific principles, technologies, and operations
- Translating interceptor, radar, and battle management concepts into simulation input
- Support the operation maintaining of simulation codes
- Generating output to support analysis products
- Developing MATLAB models of algorithms, optimization techniques, hit-to-kill physics and data processors
- Working in a fast paced, high work volume, highly technical, small team environment
- Working across LINUX and Windows operating systems
Desired Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering
- Strong C++ or other modern programming language software development skills
- Knowledge of missile defense weapon, C2BMC, and sensor systems
- Missile defense threat knowledge
- Experience with AFSIM and STK GNC (Guidance, Navigation, Control) experience
- Experience with high fidelity missile defense modeling and integration
- Experience with modeling radars using physics-based modeling
- Experience with GIT/Software Configuration Management
- Experience in Machine Learning
- Experience in trajectory optimization software (including POST II, LMOpt)
