Open Rank-Hospital Medicine

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care across general internal medicine, transplant medicine, and surgical co-management services.
• Participate in nocturnist coverage as scheduled, with an appropriate salary differential.
• Interpret laboratory results, coordinate patient care, and ensure quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with other medical staff to manage patient flow and implement care protocols.

Teaching

• Supervise internal medicine residents and medical students in inpatient settings.
• Precept students in ambulatory clerkships and provide guidance on clinical reasoning and patient management.
• Engage in curriculum development, academic advising, and mentoring.

Health Education & Medical Training

• Participate in scholarly activities to advance hospital medicine.
• Represent the Division and University on committees and professional organizations.
• Contribute to academic advising, administrative activities, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
• Eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor per university criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3 years of clinical or hospitalist experience.
• Experience in an academic medical center.

The Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida (USF) seeks an Academic Hospitalist (Open-Rank) with a commitment to inpatient care, medical education, and academic research. This faculty position primarily involves day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) with some night service (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) and provides an opportunity to work in a collaborative academic hospital environment.
