About the role
The College of Nursing at Tarleton State University seeks to establish a pool of qualified applicants for Open Rank Faculty appointments in the department of Undergraduate Nursing. This pool is for Spring/Fall 2026.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools;
- Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline;
- Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes;
- Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning.
- May be required to teach at other campuses or online. Will be required to teach Clinicals.
- Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry;
- Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation.
- Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.
Requirements
- Assistant Professor: Earned doctorate/terminal degree (PhD and DNP) from an accredited institution. Three to Five years of successful college teaching experience. BLS certification. License to Practice Nursing in the State of Texas.
- Associate Professor: Earned doctorate/terminal degree (PhD and DNP) from an accredited institution. Five to Eight years of successful college teaching experience. BLS certification. License to Practice Nursing in the State of Texas.
- Professor: Earned doctorate/terminal degree (PhD and DNP) from an accredited institution. Eight plus years of successful college teaching experience. BLS certification. License to Practice Nursing in the State of Texas.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability in the discipline and show clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers, department head, and college dean.
- Demonstrated ability for continuing scholarly contribution beyond that required for completion of the terminal degree.
- Documented yearly progress of professional achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service.
