Onsite IT Support Technician - Iron Mountain, MI

Onsite position in Iron Mountain, MI (2010 The Boss Way, Iron Mountain, MI 49801).

About the Role

Develop, maintain, and enhance plant operations planning, reporting analysis, and tracking systems using Microsoft Office, SAP, and manufacturing software tools. Work with plant personnel to solve technical issues, communicate and enforce IT standards, and support manufacturing engineers and management in defining information technology needs and appropriate software/hardware solutions for plant users.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and implement requests from user departments.
• Analyze systems problems, determine root-cause, and initiate corrective action.
• Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing hardware devices.
• Define end-user needs and work with others to architect/design, implement, test, document, and maintain end-user system(s).
• Develop clear and concise documentation for instruction manuals.
• Identify end-user training needs and provide appropriate hardware/software solutions.
• Support and maintain plant applications and infrastructure systems including desktops, servers, printers, and phone systems.
• Ensure data/system security complies with Toro corporate policies to protect information technologies from unauthorized access, use, or interruption.
• Ensure information technology security meets all corporate and government regulatory requirements.
• Work with other Toro plants to drive alignment and standardization for cross-plant and enterprise systems.
• Drive continuous improvement using emerging and commercially available technology services and processes.
• Provide backup support to other regional Toro company locations, including day-to-day issue assistance and travel for large project implementations or coverage.
• Participate in on-call rotation or be available for high-priority incident resolution outside of normal business hours as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience with programming/systems analysis, systems software applications, PC repair, or providing support to users.
• Experience with Microsoft desktop OS (Windows 8, 10, etc.), Microsoft O365, data communications, operations, and personal computers.
• Ability to solve technical issues and escalate when appropriate.
• Experience with PowerShell and other scripting languages desired.
• Ability to maintain PCs, printers, peripherals, and infrastructure.
• Comply with physical plant requirements: wear steel toe shoes, lift up to 50 lbs., and walk/stand throughout the day.
• Outstanding customer service focus and ability to provide timely, accurate updates to the ITSM ticketing system.
• Effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to a non-technical audience.
• Tolerance for different work styles and ability to work with a broad constituency.
• Ability to work in an occasionally stressful environment when assisting clients on-site.
• Strong communication skills.
