About the Role

The Behavior Analyst will work with school staff to support students with behavioral difficulties in the Least Restrictive Environment. This role involves individual student support and district-wide programming for special education students, training staff in behavioral strategies, and building district capacity for accommodating students with behavioral challenges. The Behavior Analyst reports directly to the Director of Student Services.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings for students identified with ASD and other disabilities to assist in educational planning and programming.
• Confer with general and special education teachers and related services providers on best practices for students with ASD.
• Provide leadership to school teams regarding discrete trial training and ABA programming.
• Work with building-based Early Intervention Program (EIP) teams and PPT teams to ensure students with disabilities participate in general education to the maximum extent appropriate.
• Confer with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of students with ASD and other disabilities.
• Assist teachers and parents in developing appropriate and measurable goals for students at school and home.
• Maintain organized written records of communication with parents and staff.
• Provide individualized parent training to support understanding of disabilities and effective child support.
• Collaborate with school teams to devise and trial innovative teaching methods, strategies, and assistive technology.
• Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop Behavior Intervention Plans for students with behavioral challenges, upon request and approval.
• Assist in the transition process for students moving to less restrictive environments or between school levels.
• Maintain appropriate IEP and evaluation reports and prepare reports as requested.
• Collaborate with special education administration to design training plans addressing staff needs for working with students with ASD and behavioral disabilities.
• Provide orientation and training to therapists and educators on ABA and discrete trial training, overseeing implementation and offering ongoing professional development.
• Design, develop, and implement clinically sound behavioral interventions.
• Participate in school and district-based teams to provide information on individual student plans and district needs.
• Maintain records and guide staff in implementing behavioral interventions.
• Assist in daily school functions, including crisis management among students.
• Help maintain a safe environment for all students and facilitate team-building skills.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of concepts and principles of ABA and Discrete Trial Training.
• Experience analyzing targeted behavior to enhance student performance and response.
• Knowledge of special education rules and regulations, improvement planning, DDDM, SRBI, and Special Education.
• Familiarity with national, state, and local educational goals and objectives.
• Proficiency in word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and motivate staff.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form and compose clear reports.
• Ability to process paperwork accurately and efficiently, maintain files, and schedule meetings.
• Ability to use computer equipment and related software programs.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work effectively with others.
• Ability to learn new products and technologies as they become available.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with an emphasis in psychology, behavioral studies, special education, sociology, or a related field.
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (B.C.B.A. or B.C.A.B.A.) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children with special needs.
• Experience with ABA, Verbal Behavior, VB MAPP assessment, Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) strongly preferred.
