Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GEDValid New Jersey Electrical Contractor's LicenseStrong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NJ Uniform Construction Code (UCC), and applicable OSHA regulationsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentsMinimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or institutional electrical workValid New Jersey Driver's License with a clean driving recordAbility to work independently and in a team environmentMust pass a criminal background check as required by NJDOEAbility to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work from lifts/scaffolding, and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods Preferred Experience working in a school or public sector environmentBilingual (English/Spanish) a plusFamiliarity with energy management systems and school security systems Job Responsibilities Installation & Repair Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with job specifications, electrical codes, and district policiesInstall, test, and repair primary and secondary high-voltage building panels and disconnectsCalculate equipment and system requirements to ensure proper load distributionInstall and maintain conduit, conductors, junction boxes, receptacles, switches, and lighting systemsPlan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codesRepair and maintain motors, starters, pumps, chillers, boilers, fans, and related HVAC equipmentReplace lighting ballasts, lamps, and bulbsInstall and repair coaxial and data cabling systems Inspection, Testing & Troubleshooting Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or repair needs; ensure compliance with codesDiagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand toolsInspect and test safety equipment such as fire alarm detectors, exit signs, and emergency lightingUse specialized test equipment (e.g., ohmmeters, voltmeters, megger, VTVM, VOM)Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, building plans, and technical manuals Maintenance & Safety Conduct preventive maintenance including inspection, testing, cleaning, and lubricationMaintain compliance with safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and fire safety standardsEnsure tools and equipment are properly maintained and storedRespond promptly and professionally to maintenance work orders and emergency calls Documentation & Planning Maintain records of work performed, materials used, inspections conducted, and service logsEstimate time, materials, and costs for projects; order necessary supplies Collaboration & Professional Development Collaborate with contractors, building inspectors, and district maintenance staff while maintaining a positive, professional attitudeParticipate in training and development activities as requiredAssist and train other maintenance staff in electrical systems repair and upkeepPerform other related duties as assigned, which may include grounds work, snow removal, or assisting during staff shortages TERMS & APPLICATION INFO Contract Terms Of Employment: Full-time, 12-months, 8-hour day exclusive of hour lunchSalary: Range is $65,000-$85,000Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits. Sick, personal, and vacation day allotments are included. Effective September 1, 2011, all employees of school districts must reside in the State of New Jersey, unless exempted under law. If you already work for the school district as of September 1, 2011, and you do not live in New Jersey, you are not required to move to New Jersey. However, if you begin your office, position or employment on September 1, 2011 or later, you must reside in New Jersey. If you do not reside in New Jersey, you have one year after the date you take your office, position or employment to relocate your residence to New Jersey. If you do not do so, you are subject to removal from your office, position or employment
