About the role
The OHST Coordinator develops and maintains effective safety, health, and training programs, provides MSHA/OSHA training, ensures high-standard recordkeeping, and monitors workplace safety through regular inspections.
Responsibilities
- Ensures all safety-related activities comply with Company policy and MSHA/OSHA requirements, including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.
- Assists in developing and maintaining safety and health standards in compliance with company, OSHA, MSHA regulations, and risk procedures to protect company assets.
- Conducts regular safety and equipment inspections of work sites, informing supervisors of unsafe practices, conditions, and potential hazards.
- Maintains high standards of housekeeping in all work areas.
- Coordinates with and accompanies inspectors during safety and health audits of the operation.
- Assists regulatory agencies and government representatives during inspections, audits, and investigations by providing timely information and documentation while ensuring compliance.
- Represents the Company during regulatory visits, protecting its legal, operational, and commercial interests.
- Coordinates safety and health issues and reports, maintaining relationships with governmental regulatory agencies.
- Implements and ensures compliance with new rules and regulations, following up on recommendations and informing employees of work method changes.
- Develops, implements, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates occupational health and safety training programs to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Plans, facilitates, and delivers mandatory MSHA training, site-specific inductions, annual refresher training, and other health and safety education programs.
- Assists in planning, facilitating, and reviewing workplace risk assessments, hazard identification processes, and implementation of risk control measures.
- Supports workplace incident management through timely response, investigation, root cause analysis, reporting, corrective development, and follow-up.
- Prepares comprehensive incident investigation reports and monitors corrective actions to ensure effective implementation.
- Participates as an active member of the site’s Emergency Management Team, responding to medical, hazardous materials, rescue, environmental, and other emergencies.
- Assists with planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of emergency response training exercises and mock scenarios.
- Supports maintenance and continuous improvement of emergency management systems, procedures, equipment, and response capabilities.
- Works collaboratively with operational leaders, supervisors, contractors, and employees to promote a proactive safety culture through education, coaching, and mentoring.
- Provides technical advice on occupational health, emergency preparedness, incident management, and regulatory compliance.
- Develops and maintains industrial hygiene programs to identify and control workplace health hazards.
- Conducts exposure monitoring and recommends control measures, preparing industrial hygiene reports for management.
- Provides operational support to the Physician’s Assistant and Site Security functions as required.
- Assists departments with contractor management, site inductions, and safety compliance.
- Supports regulatory compliance and implementation of site health, safety, and security procedures.
- Collaborates with operational departments to promote a safe, secure, and compliant workplace.
- Performs other duties as required.
