This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position limited to 1,500 hours in a 365-day period and does not entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits.
About the Role
This position supports the CNU Grounds Department functions and staff by providing general administrative support for the department. It serves as the initial department contact and resource of information regarding all inquiries, helping to resolve any problems as needed. The role involves using databases, documents, and spreadsheets to support department operations, monitoring budget tracking and accounting, and assisting with procurement activities. The Office Manager provides administrative assistance to the Assistant Director and Director in the department.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the initial department contact and resource for inquiries, resolving problems as needed.
- Use databases, documents, and spreadsheets to support department operations and supervisors.
- Monitor budget tracking, accounting, and procurement activities for the department.
- Manage supply inventory and contracts.
- Provide administrative support to the Assistant Director and Director.
- Organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely delivery of services and support.
- Analyze and track budgets, procure supplies/services following government purchasing guidelines.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent education/experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Experience maintaining files, databases, or inventories in an office setting.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of office practices, operations, and procedures.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, budget management, and procurement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage office operations, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
- Ability to make independent decisions and provide a high level of attention to detail.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of the responsibilities and operations of a Grounds Department at a university.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in a related field.
- Experience with database software.
- Experience using the Commonwealth of Virginia’s eVA procurement system.
- Office experience in an educational or government agency.
- Experience formatting and writing documents.

Pay
