Office Assistant - Adult Education
Position Summary
This position assists the Adult Education department with administrative support, offering solutions for concerns raised by students, community members, and College employees. The Office Assistant is responsible for providing customer service, helping with the intake and testing process, and other duties that ensure the office runs smoothly.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
- Help students, community members, and College employees on the phone, in-person, via email and virtual web conferencing with general questions
- Provide support to instructors with technology needs, supplies, and course materials
- Schedule appointments and call students for enrollment and retention purposes
- When needed, refer students to other Adult Education office staff
- Prepare and organize test equipment, materials, forms, and files for testing at MCCHelp students with the registration, intake, and orientation process
- Perform a variety of clerical duties, which may include, but is not limited to: create and maintain digital and paper files, and enter support tickets for IT and/or facilities issues
- Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities, including providing administrative backup for other departmental administrative support services during breaks, lunches, emergencies, vacations or other unexpected absences
- Other duties as assigned by the department
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent

- Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Polish, English/Ukrainian, English/Russian)
Skills and Specifications
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products and office equipment (fax, copier, etc.)
- Ability to apply and adhere to all federal, state and College laws, regulations, and policies, including those that speak to student and employee confidentiality requirements, such as FERPA
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of coworkers, applicants, students, community members and vendors

- Ability to safely hand - push/pull carts up to 40 pounds and lift up to 25 pounds
