Occupational Therapist Senior

Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) is seeking a talented Occupational Therapist to join the team at Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) in Alexandria. CBHH is a small inpatient psychiatric facility providing rapid assessment and stabilization for adults experiencing acute mental health symptoms. The typical length of stay is less than 60 days, focusing on stabilization, patient education, and discharge planning to prevent future episodes.

About the role

This full-time, unlimited position is part of the Mental Health & Substance Abuse Treatment Services division. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with every 6th Saturday, on a day shift (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) with one shift per week at 10:00 AM–6:30 PM. No travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing assessment and evaluation of treatment needs for patients with complex mental health concerns.
• Determine patient functional abilities through administration of Living Skill Evaluations.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, documenting patient progress toward treatment goals.
• Provide intervention in areas such as activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental ADLs, education, vocation, recreation/leisure, cognition, and social participation through individual and/or group therapy.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Minnesota, or currently licensed in another state with the ability to obtain Minnesota licensure prior to appointment.
• Meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program and at least 18 months of professional, post-licensure occupational therapy experience.
  • Master’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program and at least 6 months of professional, post-licensure occupational therapy experience.
  • Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Provide documentation of being free from tuberculosis (TB) through a blood test prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with individuals with mental illness or behavioral health conditions.
• Training and knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.

Skills

• Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Proficiency in conducting Living Skill Evaluations and documenting patient progress.
• Experience in providing interventions for ADLs, cognition, social participation, and related areas.

Pay

$35.30 - $52.35 per hour; $73,706 - $109,306 annually.
