About the Role
Responsible for assessment and direct administration of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician at SageWest Health Care, located in Fremont County, Wyoming. The role serves two hospitals in Riverton and Lander, offering a wide range of healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Interacts professionally with patients and families, treating them with respect and dignity while addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers, demonstrating customer service excellence through positive language and problem-solving techniques.
- Performs appropriate assessments and reassessments on all patients, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
- Supervises and delegates care to certified occupational therapy assistants, therapy technicians, aides, students, and other support personnel according to licensing laws and regulations.
- Administers treatment using physical agent modalities, such as moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, ultrasound machines, and other equipment.
- Performs therapy interventions using standard occupational therapy techniques tailored to the patient’s age and condition.
- Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices, recommending modifications as needed.
- Plans and implements individualized treatment programs to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction.
- Formulates and evaluates teaching plans for patients and families, including discharge planning and adaptive equipment recommendations.
- Establishes and documents patient care plans, including goals, progress, and reevaluation plans.
- Assists with patient discharge from therapy services, providing information on adaptive equipment and support programs.
Requirements
- Degree from an Occupational Therapy Program.
- Current Occupational Therapy License as required by the state of practice.
- National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the time frame specified in facility policy.
- 1 year of experience preferred.

- Flexibility to work as needed for departmental coverage.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficient time management skills.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to ensure patient and employee safety.
- Additional languages preferred.
