Occupational Therapist (OT) - Mobile Outpatient

About the role

As an Occupational Therapist at Powerback, you will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This may include a patient's private residence or their room in an independent living facility. Powerback Rehabilitation To You allows you to evaluate and treat patients in their most functional environment—their home. You will organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance while facilitating the learning of skills essential for adaptation and productivity.

This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings in Salisbury, Amesbury, and Haverhill, MA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences.
• Make referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select appropriate therapeutic regimens based on patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and plans of care to meet individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order and maintain supplies and equipment, reporting repair needs as necessary.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine a plan of care.
• Develop treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, implement the occupational therapy treatment plan, and complete all related documentation.
• Provide therapeutic techniques in areas such as:

  • Perceptual abilities and sensory awareness
  • Sitting and standing tolerance
  • Balance and activities of daily living
  • Joint protection and work simplification
  • Orientation and physical agent modalities
  • Low vision and falls risk management
  • Medication management and health/wellness
  • Community integration and reintegration
  • Case management in home and community settings
• Design, fabricate, fit, and apply adaptive devices, training patients in their use, including orthotics and prosthetics.
• Select activities suited to the individual’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interests.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
• Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice (Massachusetts).
• Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patient residences.

Pay

Posted salary range: USD $43.00 - USD $63.00 per hour, with a bonus of USD $5,000.00.
