Occupational Therapist (OT) - Mobile Outpatient

About the role

As an Occupational Therapist, you will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The in-home setting could be a patient's private residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. Powerback Rehabilitation To You allows you to evaluate and treat in the most functional environment—the patient's home. This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings in Chicopee, MA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements, and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to the needs of individual patients.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary; clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring patients and families receive high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures. Synthesize information to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine predicted levels of improvement.
• Develop and implement treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, including documentation and record-keeping. Services may include but are not limited to:

• Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, and train patients in their use, including orthotics and prosthetics.
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential.
• Perform routine reexaminations as needed to modify or progress the treatment plan.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice (Massachusetts).
• Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.

Pay

Posted salary range: USD $47.00 - USD $63.00 per hour.
