Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The in-home setting could be a patient's private residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. This role allows evaluation and treatment in the patient's home, the most functional environment. The Occupational Therapist organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation and directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. The goal is to facilitate the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, diminishing or correcting pathology. This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as necessary, in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings
• Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences and other related meetings
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with patient needs and capabilities
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to individual patient needs
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary
• Maintain, clean, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring patients and families receive high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures; synthesize information to establish a diagnosis and plan of care
• Develop treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, implement the occupational therapy treatment plan, and complete all related documentation

• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior
• Perform routine reexaminations as needed to modify or progress the treatment plan
• Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice
• Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patient's residence

Pay

USD $45.00 - USD $63.00 per hour
