Occupational Therapist (OT) - Mobile Outpatient

About the role

As an Occupational Therapist at Powerback, you will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This includes private residences and independent living facilities. Powerback Rehabilitation To You allows you to evaluate and treat patients in their most functional environment—their home. You will organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. This position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings in Stoneham, Woburn, Burlington, Wilmington, and possibly Wakefield and/or Reading.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements, and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to select appropriate therapeutic regimens consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary; clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring patients and families receive high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures. Synthesize information to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine treatment plans.
• Develop treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, implement the occupational therapy treatment plan, and complete all related documentation.
• Provide therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, balance, activities of daily living, and more.
• Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, and train patients in their use, including orthotics and prosthetics.
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential.
• Perform routine reexaminations as needed to modify or progress the treatment plan.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patient residences.

Pay

Posted Salary Range: USD $42.00 - USD $63.00 per hour.
