Occupational Therapist (OT) - Mobile Outpatient

About the role

Powerback Rehabilitation is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to provide mobile outpatient therapy services in the Haverhill to Salisbury area. This role focuses on delivering in-home rehabilitation for the older adult population, including private residences and independent living facilities. The position offers a flexible schedule and work environment across various settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, including timely clinical and billing documentation and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care and staffing conferences.
• Make referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
• Consult with members of the rehabilitation team, including community physicians, to develop appropriate therapeutic regimens.
• Adapt programs and care plans to meet individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce fire and safety hazard elimination.
• Order, clean, maintain, and report equipment needs and repairs.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of tests and measures to establish diagnoses and care plans.
• Develop and implement occupational therapy treatment plans in collaboration with patients and caregivers, including documentation and record-keeping.
• Apply therapeutic techniques in areas such as:

  • Muscle strength and coordination
  • Endurance and mobility
  • Perceptual abilities and sensory awareness
  • Sitting and standing tolerance
  • Balance and activities of daily living
  • Joint protection and work simplification
  • Orientation and physical agent modalities
  • Low vision and falls risk management
  • Medication management and health/wellness
  • Community integration and reintegration
  • Case management in home and community settings
• Design, fabricate, fit, and apply adaptive devices, including training patients in their use (e.g., orthotics and prosthetics).
• Select activities suited to the individual’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interests.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques for functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
• Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patient residences.

Pay

Posted salary range: USD $43.00 - USD $63.00 per hour.
