Position Overview
An Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) provides skilled education, treatment, and interventions under the Physician's plan of care in a home health setting. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, the OTA updates patients and caregivers, and reports observations to supervisors and physicians to ensure optimal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct occupational therapy following therapist and physician directives.
- Communicate regularly with patients and caregivers about the care plan.
- Administer treatments and procedures to promote safety and recovery.
- Report patient condition observations to supervisors and physicians.
- Relieve pain, restore function, and maintain performance levels.
- Educate patients and caregivers on assistive device use and rehabilitation techniques.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to discuss the patient’s plan of care.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
- Current, unrestricted state licensure.
- Proficiency in assessments, documentation, and policy compliance.
- PREFERRED: strong organization, communication, attention to detail, time management, relationship-building, and experience in home health therapy and OASIS documentation.
