OBH Special Projects Assistant (Closes 9/14)
This position is under the supervision of the OBH Sr. Manager of Special Projects and supports the OBH Projects Specialist in developing various behavioral health projects, state initiatives, and grants for the Bureau of Mental Health Services (BMHS), the Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services (BDAS), and OBH Program Operations. The incumbent will assist OBH administration with drafting policies, procedures, reports, and providing planning support and analyses. If hired, you will be an employee of Community Family Advocates working onsite at Allegheny County DHS.
Responsibilities
- Project Development
- Collaborate with the OBH Operations unit, Projects Specialist, and other designated staff on the development, design, and implementation of projects and related materials.
- Report to the OBH Manager of Special Projects or other OBH administration on tasks including:
- Data collection for reports and plans, data analyses and review, and creating reports and plans.
- SharePoint creation and maintenance for respective Bureau files and projects.
- Transition Age Youth (TAY) Booklet and other TAY activities as needed.
- Creation of promotional documents such as informational one-pagers and how-to manuals.
- OnBase filing system and user manual maintenance.
- Government Performance and Reporting Act (GPRA) data entry for Federal grant-funded projects.
- Assist with the Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP) weekly report and Client Satisfaction project.
- Support staff implementing the Stand Together anti-stigma campaign by:
- Designing handouts.
- Downloading and uploading survey data into Qualtrics and analyzing that data.
- Researching and reviewing event formats for the Stand Together Recognition Event.
- Provide staff support on other internal special projects as requested.
- Assist with the development of emergency response plans.
- OBH Planning
- Assist with planning tasks for behavioral health services and initiatives.
- Support planning and facilitating technical assistance to behavioral health program operations and contracted providers.
- Prepare required studies and reports.
- Support the OBH Manager of Special Projects with preparation of required plans for behavioral health care system development in keeping with Federal, State, and County guidelines (e.g., Olmstead, Block Grant).
- Meetings, Records, and Policies
- Attend and participate in workshops, in-services, and seminars to increase proficiency.
- Develop and maintain current knowledge of the latest practices, principles, and techniques through journals, regulations, and guidelines.
- Prepare written reports and data as needed.
- Administrative
- Perform general administrative duties or other special projects as requested, including researching clients in the state HCSIS program who may be dually enrolled in mental health and LIFE services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
- A minimum of two or more years of professional responsibility in human services or human development programs.
- Two or more years of experience with sophisticated computer-based applications is a plus.
- Act 33 and 34 clearances.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Skills
- Ability to sit for 2+ hours, traverse the building, and carry up to 20 pounds (files, books, etc.).
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to navigate in the community on related work assignments.
- Proficiency in performing computer tasks (e.g., extracting, aggregating, and analyzing data from various sources).
- Capacity to design and present data to stakeholder groups external to OBH.
- Professional interaction with County and provider staff, consumers, and the general public.
- Consistent advocacy for the mission of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services.
- Ability to function at a high level of independence with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.).
