About the role

The Oasis Recreation Manager oversees all lifeguard hiring, training, and safety and guest activity programs. They must maintain administrative organization and control labor, attend special functions, and assist in food and beverage operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all lifeguard duties, safety programs, and safety audits daily.
  • Properly document all safety programs and audits.
  • Maintain safety levels set by Starfish aquatics and other guiding factors.
  • Train new hire lifeguards and ensure they are fit for the position through new hire guard training and monthly in-service training.
  • Be present on the floor with guards and food and beverage staff to ensure Resort standards are met.
  • Aid in special programs to promote a fun and safe experience at the Oasis, such as 4th of July guest activities.
  • Assist in food and beverage operations in the absence of the Oasis Operations Manager and/or Oasis Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Manage and direct head guards and recreation trainers under the guidance of the Oasis Manager.
  • Recruit and hire lifeguards as needed.
  • Work within the budget for labor and assist the Oasis Operations Manager.
  • Hold departmental meetings and attend resort meetings regularly.
  • Implement and coordinate the Safety Audit schedule with the Oasis Operations Manager.
  • Be available to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Perform Lifeguard, Lead Lifeguard, and other necessary positions' responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior lifeguard experience and public/private experience.
  • Lifeguard Trainer Certification, Maricopa County Food Service Worker Card, and Arizona Title IV Alcohol Certification.
  • Clerical/Organizational skills.
  • Starfish Aquatics Lifeguard Trainer.
  • Strong aquatics/safety background.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and assist guests.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to memorize and perform Resort Standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or graduation equivalent. Bachelor's degree Preferred.
  • Experience: Prior lifeguard experience / public or private.
  • Certificates or Licenses: Lifeguard Trainer Certification, Maricopa County Food Service Worker Card, and Arizona Title IV Alcohol Certification.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Clerical/Organizational skills, Starfish Aquatics Lifeguard Trainer, strong aquatics/safety background, excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to work effectively with a variety of people, ability to stand for long periods, ability to work outside in all weather conditions, ability to memorize and perform Resort Standards.
  • Personal Characteristics: Behaves ethically, establishes credibility and trust with all internal and external guests, communicates effectively, speaks and listens in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, uses the English language, exhibits an appearance appropriate for the resort, follows the Arizona Grand Resort and Marc & Rose Hospitality culture.
