NY Strategic M&A Mid-Level Associate
About the role
Paul Hastings’ M&A Practice Group is seeking skilled Corporate Associates with two to five years of experience in mergers and acquisitions to join their team in New York. Note this is a posting for an associate working predominately in Strategic and Public M&A, not Private Equity, which is a separate practice group at Paul Hastings.
Responsibilities
- Handle private and public company M&A transactions
- Manage high-level responsibilities in deal execution
- Develop and manage client relationships
- Participate in strategic discussions and negotiations
- Manage takeover defense matters including shareholder activism
- Work with autonomy within a dynamic, growing practice
- Represent clients in a variety of industries
Requirements
- Significant experience handling private and public company M&A transactions
- Substantial experience running deals and managing high-level responsibilities
- Business development-oriented mindset
- Good understanding of corporate law and market terms
- Effective deal management skills
Qualifications
- U.S. law firm experience required
- Outstanding academics
- Admitted to and in good standing to practice law in the New York State Bar
Skills
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
