Primary Responsibilities

  • Advancing business development strategies
  • Developing and pursuing new clients and projects
  • Client management
  • Project management for key projects
  • Technical input on projects
  • Staff development

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Assessing the Area’s marketplace
  • Tailoring optimal technical business development tactics and strategies
  • Implementing Market Sector strategies and tactics
  • Collaborating with local Departments
  • Serving as the Client Manager for selected key clients
  • Participating in industry associations
  • Conducting client development workshops
  • Promoting the marketing and delivery of all HDR services
  • Supporting the NY/NJ Area Water Business Group Leadership Team
  • Deploying pursuit strategies, business development tactics, and support client relationship development
  • Actively participating in industry associations in leadership roles
  • Identifying key investments and maintaining HDR’s industry leadership position
  • Maintaining marketing capabilities and providing support to the Area
  • Developing relationships with industry counterparts and senior leadership

Staff Development Responsibilities

  • Enhancing practices to best perform within the marketplace
  • Strategically assigning staff to develop and deepen skills
  • Mentoring and growing Wastewater staff capabilities and talent
  • Identifying and recruiting prospective future market sector employees
  • Supporting Area work-sharing efforts within the East region and the broader Water Business Group
  • Leading the Area in identifying needs and opportunities for new and improved technical services and products
  • Coordinating staffing/recruiting plans for key hires
  • Identifying resource gaps and supporting talent management and recruiting

Key Program/Project Delivery

  • Helping to drive client management
  • Supporting the QA/QC program
  • Facilitating cooperation and eliminating hurdles and barriers to success
  • Implementing process improvements and leveraging work sharing
  • Assisting with contract review on key projects
  • Engaging in the PARR process and promoting Quality Assurance/Quality Control
  • Facilitating development and dissemination of “lessons learned”
  • Driving client satisfaction, staff development, technical excellence, and mentoring opportunities
