NW Deployment Planner I, GND - Planning, Implementation, Coordination (PIC) Team

About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. The Global Network Delivery organization is seeking a highly motivated, best-in-class Network Deployment Planner to join our Planning and Implementation team within AWS Data Center Delivery.

The team is responsible for scoping and planning interdependent capacity scaling projects and new network capacity deployments across several data center locations. The Network Deployment Planner will review project forecasts and ensure physical infrastructure resources are available for execution. You will work closely with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering, and technical program managers to plan and deliver customer capacity to local data center installation & deployment technicians.

The ideal candidate will possess a technology background that enables understanding of the complexities of Amazon’s sophisticated network architecture. This position offers high levels of autonomous work with minimal supervision to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in developing innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to timelines and deliver sustainable, repeatable solutions and processes with an eye on continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Install/Deployment Technicians, Supply Chain & Procurement, Network Engineers, and Technical Project Manager teams to ensure fast, smooth delivery of on-demand customer capacity.
• Apply knowledge of network cabling and optic types, as well as cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
• Demonstrate excellent judgment and analytical skills to prioritize tasks based on fluctuating needs.
• Coordinate design, project timeline/schedule, and construction milestones.
• Manage core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path.
• Work effectively under time pressure while maintaining strong organization.

Requirements

• Experience in project management.
• Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers.
• 1+ years of relevant discipline work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of data center, critical environment, computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations experience.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
• Familiarity with common networking terms.

Skills

• Strong prioritization and time management ability.
• Highly autonomous and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence in networking principles, data center operations, cable infrastructure, and fiber solutions.
• Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, collaborative environment.

Pay

USA, VA, Herndon - $30.91 - $54.18 USD hourly

USA, WA, Seattle - $30.91 - $54.18 USD hourly

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
