Nursing Station Technician - Heart Center - 12hr Shifts

About the role

The Nursing Station Technician position is available at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This role is 60 hours every two weeks on the Day shift, for 12 hour shifts, and every third weekend. Eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care
  • Transports patient and / or equipment
  • Sets up and maintains patient rooms
  • Reorders and stocks supplies
  • Captures and coordinates the flow of communication on a patient care unit
  • Performs a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of patient care unit desk area functions
  • Works under the direction of the professional nurse, may or may not be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager / charge nurse
  • Delivers direct patient care and administrative duties under the direct supervision of a professional nurse
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fast-paced unit
  • Performs patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
  • Maintains unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts, and ordering tests
  • Orders and stocks of supplies

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program
  • Or six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting
  • Or current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire

Qualifications

  • License/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants must be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
  • Education: One or more of the following:
    • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program
    • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting (appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
    • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
    • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire

Pay

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
